Geneva is a vibrant city because of its many events taking place in the city every year. What makes Geneva one of the liveliest cantons in Switzerland. The city welcomes a lot of people from all over the world, especially during the summer on the occasion of Geneva’s celebrations.

International Geneva Motor Show

The Geneva Motor Show is the largest international show in Europe and arguably the most important motor show in the world. Many new prototypes and innovations are unveiled during the week and the atmosphere is electric with lots of freebies and plenty of flare to go around. Classic favorites from almost every manufacturer in the world are also on display throughout the huge showroom.

48th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva

Location: Palexpo Exhibition Center
Dates: 25 – 29 March 2020

The largest event of its kind, Geneva’s International Exhibition of Inventions features over one thousand new innovations and inventions from around the world. This is where the public and commercial investors alike come to discover the future with inventions from every field from computer science to plumbing to toys and games.

Geneva Lake Parade

Location: The Old Town
Dates: 6 – 8 December 2019

l’Escalade commemorates the successful defense of the city against invasion in 1602 when the people of Geneva rallied to repel the Duke of Savoy and his mercenary horde. The festivities kick off on Sunday with a 5 mile race through the Old Town and culminate the following weekend with a torchlight procession of over 1000 marchers dressed in period costumes through the city to the steps of Saint Peter’s Cathedral. The week between features exhibitions, concerts and shows celebrating different aspect of Geneva’s most triumphant victory.

Music in Summer

Dates: 5 July – 22 August 2019

This year, the “Musiques en été” festival is asserting itself as the central festival of Geneva’s summer! Organised by the City of  Geneva, it will mix heritage and musical trends through a generous and eclectic programme. Jazz, hip-hop, chamber opera, soul, classical recital, swing, reggae, song: more than 30 concerts to see from July 5 to August 22, sometimes on the Ella Fitzgerald Stage at La Grange Park, sometimes at the Alhambra, since the Town Hall Courtyard is under construction.

The Grand Fireworks

Dates: 10 August 2019

45 minutes of magic show in the heart of the city.

Expect to be amazed for 45 minutes with a breathtaking show. The traditional fireworks will take place in the heart of the harbour on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10pm. It will be free and will last 45 minutes. Of the same duration and quality as in previous years, the pyrotechnic show will offer 360° visibility. The fire will involve 2.5 tonnes of powder. It will sublimate the harbour by playing with the reflections of the lake as well as with the Jet d’eau and its fallout.

The Mont-Blanc bridge will be closed to traffic from 4pm and will allow the public to enjoy the show.
